The Story
Founder Craig Piggott grew up on a 300-cow dairy farm in the Waikato and got fed up watching his parents (and farmers everywhere) spend endless hours manually putting up fences instead of focusing on the big picture or family time. So he built Halter – the agtech that lets beef and dairy farms virtually fence, move and monitor cows with real-time insights, 24/7.
The Numbers
• 300+ people across NZ, Australia & US (aiming for 515 by end of 2026)
• 1000+ farmers using Halter every single day
• 207,000+ kilometres of virtual fences set up in 2024 (that's five times around the sun worth of virtual fencing!)
Plot Twist
People think it's just about saving farmers time, but the real magic is in pasture management. Grass is one of the biggest profit drivers on farms, and Halter lets farmers graze more efficiently and accurately control how much feed their cows get. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?
The Good Stuff
Their 2022 "H" party is legendary – everyone had to dress as something beginning with H. Picture this: helicopter pads with remote-controlled helicopters, a whole team of Homer Simpsons, someone dressed as halloumi, a hash brown, and CEO Craig rocking up as a jalapeño. Because why not?
Hit them up if spending time on-farm in Red Bands, hanging out with cows in lush paddocks sounds as exciting as building world-class agtech.
